While rumors were circulating saying that Royal Enfield is going to launch the updated Classic 350 soon, the company has gone ahead and given an official date. One of the most awaited launches, next-gen Royal Enfield Classic 350 will debut in a few days, on the 1st of September in India. The Classic 350 has made fortunes for Royal Enfield in the past decade but it hasn’t received any major update in ages.
So what can we expect from the updated RE Classic 350? The bike packs in a range of updates including visual refinements and a new engine and platform. Some new color options will also be on offer. First up, we can expect RE to revamp the headlight assembly to lend it a more modern look while the rear end will also witness a circular tail lamp with chrome bezels surround, chrome-plated exhaust, and broader rear fenders. Some spy shots have also revealed that RE could also offer alloy wheels as a standard fitment.
Royal Enfield has used its new J platform and the new 349cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine with Meteor 350. This setup will be used for the new Classic 350 as well. Users have reported significant improvements in ride quality and vibration level with Meteor 350. Next-gen Classic 350 can be expected to deliver a similar level of performance. The new 349cc motor is capable of generating 20.2 bhp of max power and 27 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The engine produces far fewer vibrations, as it has been equipped with a counter-balancer shaft. New Classic 350 utilizes a new double downtube frame with standard telescopic forks at the front and dual rear shock absorbers. The bike has disc brakes at both ends. Dual-channel ABS will be offered as standard.
The RE Classic 350 is going to receive a lot of changes and new equipment in its new avatar, one of them being an updated instrument cluster. The current iteration of the Classic 350 makes do with an archaic instrument cluster. This time around, apart from the speedometer, it also gets a small digital screen that displays information like fuel level, trip meters, time display, Odometer as well as the mention of ECO in the display and, it gets Tripper navigation too!
